KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) has declined today on Wednesday, the third trading day of the week.

The NEPSE decreased by 4.15 points today. Along with this, the turnover amount has also declined. On the previous trading day, Tuesday, it had decreased by 39.44 points, while on Monday, NEPSE had increased by 38.19 points.

Falling by 0.15 percent compared to the previous trading day, NEPSE halted at the 2740.25 mark. On this day, the sensitive index also decreased by 0.70 points to stop at the 467.55 mark. On a percentage basis, this is 0.15 percent lower than the previous trading day. Similarly, the float index decreased by 0.19 percent and the sensitive float index by 0.16 percent.

In the share market on Wednesday, at least 5,643,288 units of shares were bought and sold through 42,176 transactions of 339 companies. Accordingly, a turnover of Rs 2.807 billion was recorded on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, a turnover of Rs 4.665 billion was recorded. On Monday, the turnover stood at Rs 4.613 billion.

Only the share prices of 82 companies increased in the share market today. While the share prices of 176 companies declined, the share prices of 12 companies remained stable. Out of the 13 groups traded on NEPSE today, the indices of only two groups increased, while the sub-indices of the remaining 11 groups turned red.

According to this, on Wednesday, the indices of the Commercial Bank group decreased by 0.24 percent, Development Bank by 0.19 percent, Finance by 0.36 percent, Hotel and Tourism by 0.42 percent, Hydropower by 0.12 percent, Investment by 0.22 percent, and Life Insurance by 0.50 percent.

Similarly, while the index of the Manufacturing and Processing group increased by 0.47 percent, the indices of Microfinance decreased by 0.52 percent, Mutual Funds by 0.39 percent, Non-Life Insurance by 0.61 percent, and the Others group by 0.30 percent. The sub-index of the trading group, however, increased by 1.50 percent.

On Wednesday, investors of Asian Hydropower earned 11.42 percent, while investors of Dhaulagiri Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha lost 11.17 percent in share price.

SY Panel Nepal remained at the forefront in terms of turnover amount. Today, a turnover of Rs 277.9 million was recorded for SY.

Likewise, National Hydropower Company again led in terms of the number of shares traded today. On Wednesday, at least 290,526 units of its shares were bought and sold. On Tuesday, at least 656,163 units of shares were traded. The final trading price of National was maintained at Rs 285 per unit.
