KATHMANDU: Proposed Chief Justice Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma has presented an 18-point action plan before the Parliamentary Hearing Committee, pledging to clear Supreme Court’s long-pending cases within 18 months and reform the judiciary through technology and transparency.

He proposed implementing a Differential Case Management system to ensure timely disposal of cases based on their nature, along with building a faster and more predictable justice delivery system.

Sharma also outlined plans to digitize the judiciary, including use of artificial intelligence, virtual hearings, electronic case files, live court proceedings, and audio-to-text systems.

He pledged a zero-tolerance policy against corruption and middlemen in the justice system, along with strict action against misconduct by judges and staff.

He also emphasized expanding free legal aid, strengthening mediation, and reducing case backlogs.

He further suggested separating administrative and judicial responsibilities of Supreme Court justices and committed to publishing regular progress reports every four months.
