KATHMANDU: Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal has urged all Members of Parliament (MPs) to become more responsible toward their duties, noting that voters and the public are closely monitoring their work, behavior, and conduct through various mediums.

Inaugurating an orientation program organized by the Federal Parliament Secretariat for members of the House of Representatives today, Speaker Aryal suggested that people’s representatives should learn from past best practices in lawmaking, while also being studious and tech-savvy.

“There are many new faces in the House of Representatives right now. This program has been organized to provide a deeper understanding of parliamentary rules and procedures, and to make the work of MPs more effective,” Speaker Aryal said. “I believe this learning experience will be fruitful in helping members excel in parliamentary processes and methods.” He also emphasized that once elected by the people, an MP’s life shifts from private to public, and they must act responsibly accordingly.

Welcoming the participants at the event, the Secretary General of the Secretariat, Padma Prasad Pandey, stated that the Secretariat organized the two-day orientation on parliamentary processes and practices to provide MPs with further insights into parliamentary procedures.

The Secretariat has organized the orientation program on Monday and Tuesday at the Parliament Building premises in Singha Durbar to brief MPs on parliamentary processes and methods.
