KATHMANDU: The German Embassy in Kathmandu has rejected what it described as false and misleading reports regarding Germany’s engagement with Nepal over the passport procurement issue.
In a statement, the embassy clarified that Nepal’s Chargé d’Affaires in Berlin was invited to a meeting at the German Federal Foreign Office and was not summoned. It also said no protest note or any other document was handed over during the meeting and no warning was issued regarding possible consequences linked to the outcome of the court proceedings.
The embassy said Germany fully respects the independence of the judiciary, describing it as a constitutional principle, and reiterated that it does not comment on ongoing court proceedings.
