Two arrested with gold and silver jewelry bound for the US at TIA cargo

KATHMANDU: Police have arrested two individuals at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) after discovering a cache of gold and silver jewelry hidden inside a cargo shipment bound for the United States.

The arrestees have been identified as 46-year-old Yagya Raj Subedi, operator of Apex Logistics Pvt. Ltd., and 34-year-old Ram Prasad Dahal, operator of Unique Cargo (Jhapa/Bouddha).

According to the TIA Security Office, the duo was apprehended on Tuesday evening from the airport’s cargo complex. Superintendent of Police (SP) Raj Kumar Silwal stated that the jewelry was found concealed inside a cargo consignment declared as shoes, pants, sarees, and other clothing items.
