HETAUDA: The District Police Office, Makwanpur, has arrested four individuals—including three Indian nationals—for their alleged involvement in online fraud schemes.

A joint police team deployed from the District Police Office, Makwanpur, and the Ward Police Office, Hetauda, apprehended the suspects from the Bastola Hotel located in Ward No. 10 of Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City.

The arrested Indian nationals, all residents of Patna, Bihar, have been identified as Indrajit Sarkar (27), Saharshajit Sarkar (20), and Aman Raj Sarkar (23). The fourth individual is Deepak Bastola (37), a local resident and the operator of the Bastola Hotel.

According to police, the arrests were made based on special information revealing that the group was colluding to defraud people, including Indian citizens, by making lucrative online offers.

Initial investigations and digital forensic checks on their mobile phones revealed that the group had created channels on messaging apps, including Telegram and WhatsApp, to execute scams and process financial transactions.

Police confirmed that the Hetauda District Court has granted a remand extension to keep the suspects in custody for further investigation into online fraud offenses.
