Three held with tortoise in Dakshinkali

Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has arrested three persons who were trying to sell a tortoise in Dakshinkali, Kathmandu. Tortoise has been categorised as the protected wildlife in Nepal.

The arrested have been identified as Bishal Sunar and Bikram Sunar of Indrasarobar Rural Municipality-2 in Makawanpur district and Bhuwan Rai of Urlabari in Morang district.

 According to CIB Spokesperson, Superintendent of Police (SP) Shyam Kumar Mahato, a police team deployed to investigate and control crime related to smuggling of wildlife and plants arrested them in Pharping of Dakshinkali Municipality-6. The team also seized alive tortoise from them.

The CIB today shared that the arrestees have been sent to Division Forest Office, Hattisar for necessary action. A process has been forwarded to take action against them as per the National Parks and Wildlife Conservation Act-2029.
