Around 60 percent of votes were cast in Kathmandu district during voting held today, according to the District Election Office.

District Election Officer Thakur Prasad Sharma said the figure is based on preliminary reports received from 817 polling booths across the district. Since voting has only recently concluded, he noted that complete and final data is still being compiled.

Kathmandu district has a total of 710,708 registered voters. Of them, 366,507 are women, 344,194 are men, and seven voters are listed under other gender categories.

Officials expect turnout figures to be updated after ballot boxes and detailed reports arrive from all polling stations.
