Police detain five Indians, one Nepali from Birgunj casinos

BIRGUNJ: Police have arrested six people, including five Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen, on charges of entering casinos in Birgunj and engaging in suspected illegal gambling activities.

According to District Police Office spokesperson Hari Bahadur Basnet, the arrests were made on Saturday following a special tip-off that gambling activities were taking place inside four casinos in the area.

The arrested individuals are Ganesh Kumar, Sandeep Kumar, Suraj Prasad, Allah Yadav, and Om Prakash Yadav from Bihar, India, and Jamuddin Miya Ansari of Ward No. 32 in Birgunj Metropolitan City.

A joint team from the District Police Office and Ward Police Office, Birta, took them into custody from King’s Casino, Fortune City Gaming Club, and Casino Mahjong.

Police said further investigation is ongoing.

Authorities also recovered some cash and two mobile phones from the suspects.
