16 injured, including foreigner, in bus accident on East-West Highway

KATHMANDU: Sixteen passengers were injured after a passenger bus met with an accident along the East-West Highway in Bardaghat Municipality-4 of Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta West).

According to police, the passenger bus bearing registration number Na 7 Kha 5820, which was traveling from Pokhara to Mahendranagar, lost control and overturned on the right side of the road at around 7 pm on Saturday.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Birdatta Panta of the District Police Office, Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta West), said the injured passengers were rescued and taken to Chisapani Hospital in Bardaghat for treatment.

There were 31 passengers on board the bus. Police said the remaining passengers were unharmed. Most of the injured sustained injuries to their hands, legs, head, and other parts of the body.

Police said a few passengers are in moderate condition, while most suffered minor injuries.

Passengers from districts including Kaski, Nawalparasi, Kailali, and Tanahun were among those injured.

Police also confirmed that one foreign national sustained minor injuries.
