Cabinet extends Constitution Amendment Task Force tenure; Orders implementation of Rawal Commission report

KATHMANDU: The government has extended the tenure of the task force formed to prepare a Constitution Amendment Discussion Paper, according to decisions made at a cabinet meeting held at Singha Durbar.

The task force, established in 2025, will now continue its work until mid-July 2026.

in a separate decision, the cabinet has directed concerned ministries to strictly implement the recommendations of the Rawal Commission report on Government and Public Land Protection, originally submitted in 1995. the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, along with the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, have been assigned responsibility for carrying out the recommendations.

The meeting also approved an appointment in the financial sector. Ramesh Kumar Dhital of Sindhupalchok has been nominated as chairman of the Accounting Standards Board.
