KATHMANDU: During the House of Representatives’ zero hour, lawmakers drew the government’s attention to a range of issues including road safety, missing cultural artifacts, and public security concerns.

MP Thakursingh Tharu raised concern over cremation practices at the Babai River in Bardiya, where bodies were being burned while excavators were reportedly operating nearby, demanding action against forest officials over demolition orders for funeral structures.

MP Gangalaxmi Awale informed the House about the disappearance of a “hitimang” (a historical, ornate bronze or brass spout) associated with the chariot of Rato Machhindranath in Lalitpur.

MP Khusbu Oli highlighted the case of Sharmila Darji, who reportedly went missing after going to Kuwait, urging the government to trace her immediately.

MP Sunil KC and MP Dhanendra Karki raised concerns over road safety risks caused by poorly managed underground electricity and water pipeline works, as well as rising child abuse cases.

MP Balwati Sharma and MP Dhruba Raj Rai also drew attention to infrastructure negligence and transport safety issues.

MP Suresh Kumar Chaudhary demanded strict action against a group accused of assaulting and looting four Tharu women while grazing goats in Rapti Sonari Rural Municipality–3 of Banke district.
