House Election 2026: Madhes-centric parties in weak position

JANAKPUR: The performance of the Madhes-centric political parties in the March 5 House of Representative election appears very weak even in Madhes Province.

According to the initial vote counting results, Madhes-based parties have not been able to maintain a lead in any constituency. In the early results so far, these parties are seen far behind.

In most constituencies of the province, candidates from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) have taken the lead. Although vote counting has started in most areas of Saptari, initial results have not yet been announced.

In Siraha-4, the RSP has taken the lead. RSP candidate Tapeshwar Yadav has received 1,267 votes, while Chandrakala Kumari Yadav of the Nepali Congress has received 235 votes, and Ajay Shankar Nayak of the Nepali Communist Party (NCP) has received 205 votes.

Similarly, Raj Kishor Yadav of the Madhes-centric Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Nepal has received 188 votes, while Dharmanath Prasad Shah of CPN (UML) has received 171 votes.

In Dhanusha-3, RSP candidate Manish Jha has received 15,558 votes. Nepali Congress candidate Bimalendra Nidhi has received 5,062 votes, while Juli Kumari Mahato of CPN (UML) has received 2,355 votes.

Likewise, in Mahottari-2, too, the RSP candidate is leading. Deepak Kumar Shah of RSP has received 728 votes, while Sharat Singh Bhandari of JSP Nepal has received 169 votes and Kiran Yadav of the Nepali Congress has received 94 votes.

In Sarlahi-2 also, the RSP is ahead. RSP candidate Rabin Mahato has received 1,139 votes, while Mahendra Raya Yadav of the Nepali Communist Party has received 516 votes. Rajendra Mahato of the Rastriya Mukti Party has received 275 votes.

Similarly, in Rautahat-4, the RSP candidate is leading. Ganesh Paudel of RSP has received 2,725 votes, while Dev Prasad Timilsina of the Nepali Congress has received 983 votes, and Ram Kumar Bhattarai of the Nepali Communist Party has received 886 votes.

In Bara-1, Ganesh Dhimal of the RSP is leading with 5,877 votes. Shambhu Bahadur Budhathoki of the Nepali Congress has received 1,943 votes, and Achyutam Mainali of CPN (UML) has received 1,455 votes.

Similarly, in Bara-3, Arbind Shah of the RSP is also leading with 9,683 votes. Nepali Congress candidate Farmullah Mansur has received 2,282 votes, while Ram Babu Yadav of JSP Nepal is in third place with 1,545 votes.

Likewise, in Bara-4, RSP candidate Rahbar Ansari is leading with 918 votes, while Krishna Kumar Shrestha of CPN (UML) has received 328 votes.
