KATHMANDU: Lawmakers in Monday’s House of Representatives meeting raised a range of concerns, from alleged corruption and accountability in public office to human trafficking and delayed human rights reports.

During the emergency hour, Nepali Congress MP Abhishek Pratap Sah questioned the property disclosure of former Home Minister Sudhan Gurung, calling it suspicious and demanding an impartial investigation.

He also alleged that Prime Minister Balendra Shah was attempting to shield Gurung through a staged investigation process, urging full transparency and legal action.

In a separate intervention during zero hour, Nepali Congress MP Arjun Narsingh K.C. demanded the public release of a report prepared by a committee under the National Human Rights Commission on 2025 Gen Z protests.

He questioned why the report had not been made public, and said the findings of a separate committee led by former judge Gauri Bahadur Karki appeared incomplete and needed finalization.

Meanwhile, Rastriya Prajatantra Party Chief Whip Khusbu Oli drew attention to human trafficking networks allegedly sending Nepali women abroad under the guise of foreign employment.

She said victims were being trafficked to countries like Kuwait for Rs 1 million each and urged the government to immediately arrest those involved.

Oli also warned that despite restrictions on sending domestic workers to Gulf countries, traffickers continue to exploit illegal routes and called for stricter monitoring and enforcement.
