KATHMANDU: Members of Parliament have drawn the government’s attention toward controlling price hikes, creating employment, and finding a long-term solution to the problem of landless squatters.

During the zero hour of today’s National Assembly meeting, they also urged the government to focus on minimizing incidents of caste-based discrimination and operating sick industries.

MP Kamala Panta demanded an answer from the government regarding the preparations to restart the Gorakhkali Rubber Industry, which stands as a matter of national pride. MP Jayanti Rai drew the government’s attention toward the proper management of landless squatters who were displaced during encroachment removal drives. MP Durga Gurung urged the government to solve the squatter problem permanently.

MP Nar Bahadur Bista drew the government’s attention to bringing plans that create employment opportunities within the country to end forced foreign employment. MP Narayan Datta Mishra demanded the government’s commitment to the protection of civil rights and democracy.

MP Bhuwan Bahadur Sunar urged the government to take effective steps in controlling incidents of caste-based discrimination. MP Madan Kumari Shah (Garima) stated that no one should undervalue the parliament.

MP Yuvraj Sharma drew the attention of the House and the government to issues including good governance, price control, and development construction. MP Rajendra Laxmi Gaire suggested the government be sensitive toward the health sector.

MP Sonam Geljen Sherpa demanded action against vehicles that violate traffic rules inside Singha Durbar.
