KATHMANDU: Opposition lawmakers disrupted Thursday’s meeting of the House of Representatives, forcing proceedings to stall shortly after the session began.

The disruption started as soon as Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal opened the meeting at the Federal Parliament building in Singha Durbar. Lawmakers from the opposition benches stood in protest, preventing the House from conducting its scheduled business.

Members of the Nepali Congress, CPN (UML), Nepali Communist Party, Shram Sanskriti Party, and Rastriya Prajatantra Party joined the protest.

Amid the obstruction, Speaker Aryal gave the floor to Nepali Congress lawmaker Harina Devi Kami to present her remarks before the House.
