KATHMANDU: Only up to three people will now be allowed to accompany a passenger for farewell or reception at Tribhuvan International Airport.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) issued a notice requesting that no more than three individuals come to the airport to see off or receive a passenger.

According to CAAN, the number of both domestic and international flights has been increasing, leading to a rise in passenger traffic. As a result, crowds at the airport have also grown, especially during farewells and arrivals.

“In some cases, dozens of relatives come to the airport to receive or bid farewell to a single passenger, causing excessive congestion within the limited space of Tribhuvan International Airport premises,” the notice stated.
