NUWAKOT: Two girls have gone missing after being swept away in the Trishuli River in Nuwakot last evening, according to the District Police Office.

The missing girls have been identified as 11-year-old Jenny Dangol and 11-year-old Sadiksha from Belkotgadhi Municipality-7. They had gone to the river at Kachode Bhir to bathe and wash clothes, said SP Durgaraj Regmi.

“As soon as we received the report, our team initiated a search operation, but they could not be found by nightfall. The search resumed this morning,” SP Regmi said.

According to the girls’ parents and a nine-year-old boy who was with them, the children had gone to the river together. The boy informed his parents after the girls disappeared in the water.

DSP Shailendra Thapa, assistant spokesperson of the Armed Police Force (APF), said a disaster response team from APF led by Assistant Inspector Bir Bahadur Tamang, has been deployed for the search operation.
