KATHMANDU: Speaker Devraj Ghimire has expressed the confidence that only if the Nepali people understand anti-constitutional activities in time, will there be the protection of the constitution and the promotion of the rule of law.
Extending congratulations and best wishes to all Nepali sisters and brothers residing at homeland and abroad on the occasion of the Constitution Day and National Day 2082, he stated that the movement carried out by the Gen-Z generation on the 8th and 9th of September, just 10 days before reaching the one-decade mark of the constitution proclamation, has provided a significant awareness that the society and the nation fundamentally require to have new thinking, along with transparency and good governance.
He stated that an abnormal situation has been created in the country in the pretext of the protests of innocent youths demanding an end to corruption and misrule, and an unconstitutional act committed by dissolving the people-elected supreme legislative body.
Reminding that the rights taken away from the Nepali people have been restored through the parliament in the past, Speaker Ghimire has also drawn attention to the fact that the alternative to the democratic governance system will be a more advanced democracy.
He also stressed that the present constitution has paved the way for unity in diversity, equal rights and shared dignity by ending all forms of discrimination and inequality.
