KATHMANDU: The Muglin–Narayangadh road, blocked by landslides for over 40 hours, is being urgently cleared, with authorities aiming to reopen it by this evening.
Stranded travelers along the section are receiving immediate assistance as work progresses.
Department of Roads spokesperson Prabhat Kumar Jha said that if there is no further rainfall, the landslides on the Muglin–Narayangadh road section will be cleared and the road reopened by evening.
“The main problems are seen on the Muglin–Narayangadh section of the Prithvi Highway and the Araniko Highway. We are working to make the Muglin–Narayangadh road operational by this evening. For the Araniko Highway, the landslide removal work is expected to be completed within three days if there is no heavy rain,” he said.
According to the department, 10 major highways across the country are currently fully blocked, including the Prithvi Highway, Araniko Highway, Thori–Bhandara–Malekhu, Galchhi–Trishuli–Betrawati–Mailung–Syafrubensi–Rasuwagadhi, Rani–Biratnagar–Itahari–Dharan–Dhankuta–Hile, and Leghuwaghat–Tumlingtar–Khandbari–Num–Kimathanka (Koshi Highway).
Additionally, traffic is being allowed one-way on 168 other highway sections.
