KATHMANDU: The government has announced an additional two-day public holiday as heavy and continuous rainfall has created adverse conditions across the country.
The Home Ministry decided to declare Sunday and Monday as holidays because persistent rains have obstructed roads and disrupted normal movement.
Although government offices were scheduled to reopen tomorrow, the prolonged downpour and resulting blockages forced authorities to extend the closure.
The decision aims to ensure public safety and allow agencies to focus on managing the flood and landslide risks.
The announcement comes at a time when several highways remain blocked, transportation is largely affected, and rescue and relief efforts are ongoing in rain-hit areas.
