KATHMANDU: The commission formed to probe the  violence, damage and destruction that happened  during the September 8–9 Gen Z revolt is set to write to then prime minister KP Sharma Oli, summoning him for recording his statement.

Responding to a media query on Thursday, Commission Chair Gauri Bahadur Karki said preparations were underway to seek clarifications from Oli once the process of seeking clarifications from then home minister Ramesh Lekhak is completed.

Karki’s remarks came at a time when CPN-UML Chairman and former PM Oli was publicly stating that he would not appear before the commission to record his statement, while also questioning its legal status and impartiality.

Karki added that the commission is working according to a plan to submit its report within the extended deadline of January 21. The three-member commission was formed following a Cabinet decision on September 21.
