KATHMANDU: The government has unveiled a series of reforms in its policy and programme for the upcoming fiscal year, presented in a joint session of Parliament by President Ramchandra Paudel.

The policy states that investors investing above the threshold set by the Government of Nepal will be provided a “Nepal investment visa.”

It also announces a review of the tax structure to reduce the burden on entrepreneurs and middle-class families.

In customs administration, the government will control under-invoicing at border checkpoints. President Paudel said that all tax systems, including value-added tax, will be made fully automated.

Under-invoicing refers to declaring lower values of imports or exports than actual prices to evade taxes.

The government will pursue good governance as the foundation of a prosperous Nepal, adopting zero tolerance against corruption, improving public service delivery, and promoting economic recovery and social development as national campaigns.

It further states that all economic transactions will be integrated into digital platforms to develop a revenue leakage–free economic system.

The policy also includes plans to identify shared issues for constitutional amendment through dialogue and cooperation with political parties, ensuring equal ownership across all groups, and preparing a constitutional amendment discussion paper.
