KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa and Vice President Bishwa Prakash Sharma have publicly released a seven-point proposal to resolve internal party rifts and unify the party ahead of the 15th National Convention.

The roadmap, themed “Let’s All Progress Together,” was made public after receiving no response for 16 days from ousted President Sher Bahadur Deuba and then-acting President Purna Bahadur Khadka.

The proposal addresses post-Special Convention polarization and introduces a revolutionary condition requiring all current central committee leaders to be elected as delegates from the grassroots ward level, ending the tradition of automatic convention entry.

The compromise plan focuses on structural collaboration and inclusivity by guaranteeing equal treatment for all members, updating active memberships on schedule, and honoring veteran politicians as “Senior Leaders.”

It also advocates for fair representation within executive bodies, the Election, Discipline, and Membership Management Committees, alongside the formation of a dedicated Convention Management Committee and merit-based leadership in sister wings.

The Thapa-Sharma faction stated they chose to publish this middle-ground proposal to counter the top leadership’s current indifference and drive institutional reform.
