BEIJING: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Foreign Minister, Shisir Khanal, in Beijing on June 15, to reinforce bilateral ties and accelerate cross-border infrastructure projects.

Wang stated that China continues to place Nepal at the forefront of its neighborhood diplomacy and will support the nation’s transition from a landlocked to a land-linked country through high-quality Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) cooperation.

During the talks, Wang expressed appreciation for Nepal’s adherence to the “One-China” principle regarding Taiwan and Tibet, while reaffirming Beijing’s support for Nepal’s sovereignty, independence, and domestic governance.

Looking ahead, both nations agreed to utilize bilateral platforms to deepen trade, enhance people-to-people exchanges, and fast-track joint connectivity projects in power grids, highways, ports, and aviation.

China also committed to encouraging domestic enterprise investment in Nepal, urging Kathmandu to maintain a fair and transparent business environment.
