Nepal influxes over Rs 2.12 trillion in remittance during first 11 months of current fiscal year

KATHMANDU: Nepal received over Rs 2.12 trillion in remittances during the first eleven months of the current fiscal year.

According to the Current Macroeconomic and Financial Situation Report released by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) on Monday, the total remittance inflow reached Rs 2,120.80 billion as of mid-June.

This figure represents a significant increase of 38.2% compared to the same period in the previous fiscal year.

By mid-June last year, Nepal had recorded a remittance inflow of Rs 1,534.16 billion.

According to the central bank, a total of Rs 203.89 billion in remittance entered the country in one month alone (from mid-May to mid-June).

When calculated in US dollars, the total remittance inflow surged by 29.6%, reaching USD 14.59 billion.

During the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year, the dollar-based remittance growth rate stood at 12.8%.
