KATHMANDU: While most private petrol pumps in Kathmandu Valley have been shut down after the Nepal Oil Corporation reduced the prices of petroleum products, the pumps operated by Nepal Army, Nepal Police, and Armed Police Force remain open.
Consumers are crowding these open pumps to get diesel and petrol.
Meanwhile, private petrol pumps have put up notices reading “No Petrol” and “No Diesel.”
Businessmen have closed the pumps claiming that selling fuel purchased at the older, higher prices following the price drop would result in financial losses.
With the petrol pumps closed, consumers are facing difficulties refueling their vehicles.
Long queues of consumers have formed at the open petrol pumps, which has also affected public transportation.
