KATHMANDU: Minister for Industry, Commerce, and Supplies, Gauri Kumari Yadav, has stated that the government is actively working to boost national production, productivity, and job creation.
Responding to questions raised on the Appropriation Bill concerning her ministry during Tuesday’s National Assembly meeting, Minister Yadav emphasized that the ministry will remain dedicated to keeping the private sector’s morale high. She noted that this would be achieved by enhancing effective inter-ministerial and inter-tiered coordination to drive production and employment.
According to the Minister, establishing smooth coordination and interconnectedness among various government ministries is crucial to fostering an environment conducive to production, investment, and business operations.
She also shared that the ‘Investment Protection and Promotion Strategy’ has been drafted and is currently in the process of securing approval from the Council of Ministers. This strategy aims to protect private property, safeguard investments, and declare industrial establishments as ‘zones of peace’.
Furthermore, Minister Yadav announced that various exemptions, facilities, and concessions will be introduced to revive sick and closed industries that suffered damages during past political movements.
Addressing trade issues, she added that a task force has been formed and is currently preparing a report to find a long-term solution to the ongoing challenges faced in exporting Nepali tea to India.
