KATHMANDU: Continuous heavy rainfall, floods, and landslides have severely disrupted major highways across Nepal, stranding commuters across Bagmati, Koshi, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces.

In Bagmati, key routes like the BP Highway (Kavre), Arniko Highway (Sindhupalchok), and Trishuli–Mailung–Syabrubesi road (Rasuwa) are fully blocked, while nighttime travel restrictions have been imposed on parts of the BP Highway and Kanthi Lokpath (Makwanpur).

In Koshi, the Mechi Highway in Ilam is blocked with alternative routes in place, and the Mid-Hill Highway is restricted to one-way traffic in Bhojpur and Khotang.

Gandaki has seen total closures along the Beni–Jomsom road in Myagdi, while the Kaligandaki Corridor in Baglung operates one-way.

In Lumbini, landslides have completely closed the Ghorahi–Thabang and Siddhartha highways, while Karnali faces complete blockages on the Jajarkot–Dolpa road and the Nagma–Gamgadhi stretch in Mugu.

Authorities are actively clearing debris and urge travelers to exercise extreme caution on vulnerable roads.
