KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chief Whip Khusbu Oli has sharply criticized the government’s internal security apparatus following a deadly clash in Sunsari district that resulted in police firing, the death of a local youth, and the imposition of an indefinite curfew.

Expressing grave concern over the handling of the incident, Oli stated that the rapid escalation of a localized dispute into fatal violence highlights systemic vulnerabilities in the nation’s security mechanism.

“A situation where a local dispute escalates within hours to police firing, loss of a citizen’s life, and an indefinite curfew across five areas cannot be considered a minor incident,” Oli wrote in a public statement. “This serves as a serious warning sign for our internal security framework.”

Addressing the broader scope of national stability, the RPP lawmaker emphasized that national security extends beyond border protection and military strength.

She stressed that public safety, social harmony, community trust, and proactive conflict resolution form the fundamental pillars of internal order.

Oli urged the Ministry of Home Affairs and relevant law enforcement authorities not to treat the Sunsari violence as a routine administrative challenge, but rather as a critical, strategic security concern.
