KATHMANDU: The second convention of the Active Dalit Journalists Association Nepal has unanimously elected a new central working committee under the leadership of Prakash Dhaulakoti of Tehrathum.
According to election committee coordinator Baburam Bishwakarma, Keshab Bhul was elected senior vice president, Bishwas Khadkathoki vice president, Bishnu Pariyar general secretary, Jasindra Shripaili and Samjhana BK secretaries, and Subin Bishwakarma treasurer. The convention also unanimously selected central committee members representing various districts across the country.
Established in 2019, the association works to promote the professional rights and inclusion of Dalit journalists in Nepal’s media sector. The convention was inaugurated by National Dalit Commission Chairperson Devraj Bishwakarma and attended by political leaders, media personalities, and journalists.
During the event, the association posthumously honored late journalist LB Bishwakarma, who died during the COVID-19 pandemic after being unable to access medical treatment due to financial hardship.
