KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Court has granted permission to keep former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak in custody for five days for investigation.
A bench led by Judge Anand Prasad Shrestha issued the order allowing their detention for investigation purposes. According to the court’s information officer, Deepak Shrestha, the five-day extension has been approved, although the government had requested a 10-day period.
Meanwhile, a habeas corpus petition has been filed in the Supreme Court claiming that both individuals are being held in illegal detention. The petition is scheduled for hearing on Monday.
