KATHMANDU: The Federal Parliament’s budget session is beginning today, with the government’s policies and programmes scheduled to be presented on the very first day.
According to the Parliament Secretariat, President Ram Chandra Paudel will address the joint meeting of both houses of the Federal Parliament today.
As per Article 95 of the Constitution, the President will present the government’s policies and programmes at the joint session at 4 pm.
The Parliament Secretariat has instructed members of both the House of Representatives and the National Assembly to be present before 3:45 pm for the joint sitting where the President will deliver the policy document.
Before the joint session, separate meetings of the House of Representatives and the National Assembly will begin at 2 pm.
According to the Secretariat, the House of Representatives meeting is expected to inform lawmakers about the President’s letter regarding the summoning of the session and notify the House about cabinet reshuffles communicated by the Office of the President.
The agenda also includes nomination of members to chair meetings in the Speaker’s absence, endorsement of obstruction-removal provisions issued under Rule 260 of the House of Representatives Regulations 2023, and presentation of eight ordinances issued by the government.
The Parliament Secretariat said the same ordinances will also be tabled in the National Assembly meeting.
