KATHMANDU: The House of Representatives still has not resumed on Wednesday (May 13) as opposition obstruction continues over demands that Prime Minister Balendra Shah personally appear in Parliament and respond to questions on the government’s policies and programs.

The session was first suspended for a stated 15 minutes, but proceedings did not resume even after more than one hour had passed due to continued disruption. A second suspension of another 15 minutes was also announced, but the House has still not restarted even nearly one hour after that pause, as the deadlock persists inside the chamber.

The main opposition party, the Nepali Congress, continued its protest, insisting on a formal ruling requiring the Prime Minister’s presence in the House.

The agenda for the day included presentation of the government’s policies and programs for fiscal year 2026/27, which was to be delivered by Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle after Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal informed lawmakers of the arrangement.
