CHITWAN: A legal case has been initiated in Chitwan against Rabi Lamichhane, the Chairperson of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), who was recently granted bail by three district courts.
The District Attorney’s Office in Chitwan filed the case against the former Home Minister on Tuesday, accusing him of embezzling and defrauding funds from the Sahara Chitwan Cooperative in a coordinated manner.
Earlier, the police submitted an investigation report recommending charges against Lamichhane and 14 others.
Based on this report, the District Attorney’s Office in Chitwan has prepared the charge sheet.
The investigation suggests naming Lamichhane, his business associate and former DIG of Nepal Police Chhabilal Joshi, former ASI of Nepal Police Ram Bahadur Khanal, Kumar Ramtel, and 14 others as defendants.
The complaint was lodged by savers who claimed to have been defrauded of more than Rs 380 million.
