KATHMANDU: Floods and landslides have continued to block several major highways and road sections across the country.

According to Nepal Police, the BP Highway remains obstructed at Roshi Rural Municipality-11 (Mamtikhola, Buldhunga, and Dalabesi) in Kavrepalanchok, and at the Nepalthok section in Sindhuli due to landslides.

Similarly, on the Koshi Highway, road traffic has come to a halt at Ekuwa in Makalu Rural Municipality-3 and Barun in Bhotkhola Rural Municipality-4 of Sankhuwasabha district because of landslides.

The Pasang Lhamu Highway in Gosainkunda Rural Municipality-2 of Rasuwa is also blocked by landslides at Ghattekhola, Baluwakhani, and Tatopani.

Furthermore, the Miteri Bridge at Rasuwagadhi—which connects Nepal and China—was damaged by floods in early July, leaving the border point inaccessible.

The Mechi Highway section in Ilam and the Tamor Corridor are also closed due to landslides, cutting off transport routes in several hilly and mountainous areas.

Authorities say road clearance and repair work are ongoing but continue to be hampered by unstable slopes and recurrent rainfall in affected regions.
