BEIJING: Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal has kicked off his four-day official visit to China by engaging with the local Nepali community in Beijing.

Arriving in the Chinese capital on Sunday noon at the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Khanal carried a message from the new government formed on March 27 under the leadership of Balen Shah.

He was received at the Beijing airport by Ms. Roshan Khanal, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Nepal in China, alongside officials from China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On Sunday evening (local time), the Foreign Minister interacted directly with the diaspora during a welcome reception hosted in his honor by the Nepali Embassy, establishing a strong community connection at the very start of his trip.

Following this community engagement, Minister Khanal’s itinerary shifts toward high-level diplomacy and economic development before his scheduled return home on June 17.

Having already visited Nepal’s southern neighbor India, Khanal is focusing this trip on strengthening cooperation with the northern neighbor.

He is scheduled to hold formal bilateral talks with his counterpart, Wang Yi, as well as separate meetings with other high-ranking Chinese officials to bolster mutual relations.

Additionally, Minister Khanal will participate in an investment conference organized by the Nepali Embassy in Beijing, where he will hold discussions with Chinese entrepreneurs and business leaders to actively promote and secure foreign investment for Nepal.
