KATHMANDU: Speaking at the National Assembly, Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal reaffirmed Nepal’s commitment to resolving border disputes with India, including Susta and Kalapani, through diplomacy and historical evidence.

Commenting on a recent joint border inspection, he noted that while India accepts a 1-km embankment built in Nepali territory along the Narayani River, bilateral coordination is needed for a 132-meter extension.

Minister Khanal also clarified that an Indian helicopter’s recent entry into Darchula was an accidental detour caused by bad weather, dismissing any malicious intent.

Furthermore, he strongly rejected viral rumors of a US-Nepal military pact to extract uranium in Mustang, labeling them baseless and reiterating Nepal’s strict adherence to a non-aligned foreign policy.

Lastly, he assured that active diplomatic efforts are underway to resolve trade hurdles affecting Nepali tea and betel nut exports to India.
